Because of its unusual design featuring a very large display, the Samsung Galaxy Note surprised many when it became a hit. Now its maker is reportedly working on a successor to this super-size smartphone.
The current version has a 5.3-inch touchscreen, and Samsung is supposedly thinking even bigger with the next version: 5.5 inches. The resolution will be 1050 x 1680 pixels (WSXGA), giving it a very high pixel density of 360 ppi. This will be a Super AMOLED display.
The leaked specifications sheet for this Samsung model indicates that the S Pen stylus will be part of the second-generation Note, as well as some features that debuted in the Samsung Galaxy S III, such as the S Voice voice-control system, S Beam, and Smart Stay.
Naturally, this device - half smartphone and half tablet - will run Google's Android OS, and it will supposedly have a Samsung Exynos 5250 dual-core processor. The clock speed for this is not yet known, but will likely be 2.0GHz.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is expected to be released in October, about a year after its predecessor. Only time will tell if it turns out to be as popular as the first version, of which over 7 million units have been sold so far.
