Hectic schedule prevents MACH Insights 2012 reports

Rating: We’d like to tell you about today’s events but …

The trouble with attending a major mobile industry conference like MACH Insights 2012 (in Prague, Czech Republic), is that the organisers don’t take journalists into account! The company has such a tight schedule that we haven’t been able to sneak out to inform readers of what is going on. What we can tell you, however, is that there have been some ready brilliant sessions which have been immensely informative.

The last session of the day was on the subject of M2M (machine-to-machine) communications with two really knowledgeable speakers from Vodafone.

We have solved one mystery, however. You may recall a comment which Indian mobile advertising specialist, , put on its web site.

“The number of mobile users exceeding the world population.” What they actually meant was the number of ‘connected devices’ or live mobile subscriptions.

That number really does exceed the number of humans in the world because there are least 68 billion M2M devices already operating in the world today.

China and the USA have the lion’s share of such ‘connected devices’.

So at least we learnt something useful today.

Given that we are time poor, GoMobile News is going to have to restort to tweeting, we think.

One last thing. We met up with our old buddy, Gerry O’Prey, who is now with Cloud9 Communications.

We’ve got a feeling that this isn’t the last time you will be hearing about Cloud9.

Tony is currently Editor of GoMobile News. He has taken over this role from Bena Roberts.
